Have you ever sent someone a message without an emoji and they totally misinterpreted the tone or content of the message you were attempting to get across? In my experience of delivering separated parenting courses or facilitating family mediation I can assure you that the way something is said can create much more harm than the words actually used in a message. Other apps use A.I. to try & identify inappropriate words or phrases. However, these apps are not used to interpreting Irish lexicon, phraseology or humour. Most other parenting apps available to Irish parents are USA based. Some examples of words used in Ireland that confuse Americans include: langer, sh#te, jumper, chipper, craic, grand, ride, boot, footpath & runners. An Irish co-parenting app requires Irish oversight, by real people.
Beacon Co-Parenting App has professional moderators who will be available to deal with any (non-legal) communication issues between parents on the app. They will be trained & experienced in dealing with parents in conflict. Their role will be to offer impartial guidance to parents when a message has been reported to them. The moderator will be able to read previous messages, put the reported message into context & make an adjudication. Moderator feedback can be seen by both parents within the messaging function.
Having a moderator directly available to parents provides an added security to both parents using the app to communicate. Invariably, communication between parents using any parenting app will be at best stressful & at worst toxic. One or both parents can frequently become uncomfortable engaging with each other. Interactions can become hostile quickly. Having an experienced moderator provides that extra layer of reassurance to both parents. The focus of this app is communication with boundaries.
Sent messages cannot be edited or deleted. Messages can be printed of between two dates or access can be allowed for your lawyer to view messages.
